TapFame

Amnesia Fortnight 2012 Conclusion

Cool ideas forged in great prototypes after just 2 weeks. You would not believe this if you look at Autonomous.

Daily videos and real-time chatting with real developers and designers is just super cool.

This was really inspiring to me. I am happy to live in our time when we have such companies and events.

Double Fine people

They are just blowing me away! They are serious about making some really cool game demos in 2 weeks!

Exclusive videos shows emotions in high resolution. How they pick new ideas, discuss design and stay late at night.

All the art in their rooms and those programmers doing their best to make games. Can't wait for next video!

The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton

This guy really made some noise. Maybe he is making some new church or trying to get some millions.

His story about membrane as a brain of cell - worth all the book. And after all, genes are not determining our future.

As controversial as it is I liked reading it. We get what we believe. And there is enough mysteries for many generations.

Amnesia Fortnight

Computer games? What should programmers do if publishers don't give them money for sequels? They can embrace some new idea!

This interesting bundle is by the fact some sort of kickstarter project. You can pay and vote for a prototype of some cool game concept!

Guys are making interesting things, videos show that they are really obsessed with their craft. Costume quest and Brazen downloadables are quite nice.

Alan Key

Beutiful post from Nabeel Qureshi. Led me to great talks from Alan Key. The guy who is is famous for object-oriented programming with Smalltalk.

He talks about software development, learning, user interfaces and other stuff. And he really makes me want to nod to his words.

He is really one of the sorcerers of the past. And now I am watching his Normal Considered Harmful.

Thanks to PayPal

I have done three things. Bought NeuorSky MindWave, donated some money to FireBug project and a developer  Giles Thomas.

I am just excited by an idea - twenty years ago you should use bank accounts to send someone money with all the waste of time and bureaucracy.

Now you can do some cool open source stuff and people who have credit cards and accounts on some service can share some wealth with you. Future is now!

Lauren Ipsum by Carlos Bueno, Ytaelena López

This is a lovely story about a girl who encounters funny and sometimes scary puzzles on her way home to Hamilton.

Recursion? Jargon? Authentication and building of lighthouse network? This story is not only smart but it also miraculously short!

Sometimes it is a godd thing to remember what magc worlds surrounds us. And there is always time to play with it!

Neuromancer by William Gibson

Do you know Matrix cinema? A world where people connect to complicated computer generated world and become its "citizens".

William Gibson coined word Matrix for this virtual reality. Where hackers are heroes fighting with AI, defense systems and etc.

This book is not just part of a story. It is an interesting inspiring step for computer culture in our society. Anyone who really likes computers should give it a try.

Parallella

Supercomputer for everyone - my first backed project on Kickstarter.

Concurent computing is a tough puzzle for software developers. But wait a second... serious multi-core hardware is too expensive for being popular.

I really hope to get some 16-core platform in may of 2013 and try some serious Erlang actor-staff on multiple cores. Maybe even some AI...

Team Geek by Brian W. Fitzpatrick, Ben Collins-Sussman

Authors of this book done real programming and open-source project management. You can check :) by yourself.

What engineers want to achieve in 5 years? Learn new staff, ship great products  and work with smart people.

No more mythical hero-stories about one person made Linux, Emacs or whatever. It is all about people. HRT?

Effective Programming: More Than Writing Code by Jeff Atwood

You know geek behind Stackoverflow.com site? There he is. And he is also quite productive blogger.

Think about physical health, do care about your work, learn new things and many other simple true things.

This compilation was some sort of inspiring for me. We do get what we really work toward to.

The Career Programmer: Guerilla Tactics by Christopher Duncan

I don't know if it is reality for America. But I am sure that this book describes most part of programmers life in enterprise company.

Politics, meetings, agendas of different "suits", strange behaviour of other buddy programmers. It all as it is.

And you know what? There is a solution. Don't be a monkey coder. Listen and talk to other people. Worth read.
